A project for women has been started by IPDP and continuing as a savings and thrift program to help the women financially to promote self-Employment and develop their small enterprises and to repay their higher interest loons. We found that most of slum dwellers do not hove a steady income and to maintain their homes and families they borrow from local financiers at doily interest rates and mortgage their articles and home appliances. They sometimes end up with paying their entire income to the financiers and ore subject to their harassment. We found there is a need to educate and help the community especially the woman. To improve socio-economic status of women from urban slum communities in Bangalore. The main aim of the project is to generate a source of income for women in a background where they ore treated differently and can supplement the family income by supporting 300 women directly and 1200 Family members indirectly for the livelihood activities.
